About The Institute

The Institute for Emotionally Intelligent Learning is an organization designed to provide programming, training, and resource development for children, adults, schools, and businesses. Its focus is to develop and improve social and emotional skills, which in turn increases the likelihood of success and satisfaction in school, at work, and in the family.

Pictured at left is Ed Dunkelblau, Ph.D., Director of the Institute. Dr. Dunkelblau is a licensed clinical psychologist and nationally known speaker on the topics of social-emotional intelligence, humor, and health.  Dr. Dunkelblau has two master's degrees from Columbia University: one in psychology and the other in vocational and rehabilitation counseling, and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Kansas, where he was recently recognized as a distinguished alum.

He has been in clinical practice for 25 years, is past president of the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor (AATH), is approved supervisor for the Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and director of the Institute for Emotionally Intelligent Learning.
Ed was recently selected as a primary speaker by the US Department of Defense's Yellow Ribbon Program (www.yellowribbon.mil). This honor is conferred on a select group of speakers whose talents assist members of our armed forces and their families in dealing with the challenges of military service.

Dr. Dunkelblau consults regularly with schools on the implementation of social-emotional literacy programs.  He also consults with Fortune 500 companies on applications of social-emotional intelligence in the workplace.  He is immediate Past-President of the Association for Applied Therapeutic Humor and a contributing author to the Handbook of Humor and Psychotherapy.  Dr Dunkelblau’s work has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, USA Weekend, and CNN.
